Variants of Seven has strong minimalist elements contrasted with lyrical and groovy moments. Thematic and motivic material is developed and juxtaposed throughout. The first iteration of this piece–also my first true attempt at composing–was finished during late high school and performed during one of my last band concerts. These first attempts to compose piqued my curiosity to continue discovering more about the characteristics of different styles of music, knowledge that has contributed to the creation of nearly all of my other compositions.
